Notices

  • Updated Pathways 1 and 2 registration application forms are now available (15 June 2010).
  • A new Complex Building Statement and Project Record Form (Refined experience areas) are available on the Pathways to registration page.
  • On 8 September 2010 the NZ Immigration Service of the Department of Labour will be removing Architects from the Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL). The recession is having an impact on the availability of architectural positions in New Zealand.
  • The NZRAB has recognised the National University of Singapore, B Arch and M Arch qualifications for registration under Pathway 1.
  • Applicants should take a copy of their registration application and supporting documents for their own records.
  • Eastlight Lever Arch Foolscap file boxes are specified for case studies. However, it has come to our attention today 9 August 2010, that these are no longer in production. You can use recycled boxes that are still sound and Eastlight Colorado Lever Arch boxes are a satisfactory alternative.
  • There seems to an understanding that once a person is registered they receive a "Certificate of Registration".  This was provided by the AERB under the Architects Act 1963, but is not legally appropriate under the Registered Architects Act 2005.
  • The recommendations from Assessors following the registration assessments will be considered by the Board by emailed resolution shortly following the last registration assessment being held in a round.  This new procedure came into effect for the March 2010 intake and replaces the advised procedure in the 2010 Equivalency and Registration Application and Fee Schedule.
  • Older style project record forms are acceptable to present for registration.
  • The Experience Areas have been refined to make them more logical and easier to follow. Information on the changes is available on the Board's website.  People planning to apply for registration in the 6 September 2010 intake will be able to apply using the old Experience Areas or the refined Experience Areas.
  • Applicants that the Board registers in November will have recorded as the commencement of their registration 1 January 2011. This change ties those people into the established CPD accrual cycles in this case 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2016.  Those registered at the 30 November meeting will also find that the annual Certificate of Registration (1 July to 30 June) fee is $275.62 reflecting the half year of validity.
  • Some Assessments in October may be observed by a non participating "Observer" for the professional development of that person.   Observers do not participate in the assessment interview nor do they participate in the two Assessor’s post assessment discussion and report writing .  Registration applicants can decline to have an Observer present.
  • Registration applicants should be careful not to describe themselves as a "Graduate Architect" in any documentation submitted as part of an application as this title is illegal.  "Architectural Graduate" is the correct title to use.
  • Pathway 7 applications must be sent in to the Board well in advance of a Board meeting. The Board meets 29 June (P7 applications must be received by the Board by 4 June), 7 September (P7 applications must be received by the Board by 6 August), 30 November (P7 applications must be received by the Board by 22 October). Pathway 7 information has been updated.  Please see the Pathways page.
